Anthophyllite, Phlogopite
Anthophyllite is an amphibole mineral: (Mg, Fe) 7Si8O22(OH) 2, magnesium iron inosilicate hydroxide. It is a common component of some metamorphic and metasomatic rocks. In this specimen, the anthophyllite has been peeled back to show that it was wrapped around a complete lozenge of phlogopite (one of the rarer members of the mica group) .
