Padre Paraiso is a classic Brazilian locality for both Heliodor and Aquamarine; and this particular Heliodor has a unique architecture that gives it special aesthetics compared to the usual loose singles we have seen from here. This a stout, yellow-green, prismatic, gem Heliodor crystal with a trio of smaller Heliodor crystals lying crosswise at the top within a bifurcated termination. The commanding main crystal is over two and half inches in length and nearly an inch in width exhibiting a glowing green-yellow color throughout much of its length with more of a lighter green color near the termination (more a zoned aquamarine than heliodor in this portion). With respect to the termination, it is quite complex and unique with three thin, prismatic gem Heliodor crystals in near-parallel orientation. The larger crystal has a pyramidal termination on one end and its other end is compromised as are the other two crystals; however, their arrangement at the top is quite dramatic. Minor sub-horizontal internal fractures are present in the large crystal that help reflect light to make the piece radiate. A great Heliodor from this famous Brazilian pegmatite district ! This is most likely from a famous find of many single gem crystals, around 2010. As a cluster for this locality or any locality, it just has a very beautiful structure. 38.9 grams.
