Leadville is well known for its Silver deposits, but the secondary ore minerals from the Sherman mine are beloved by Colorado collectors. Here we have a great secondary ore association specimen. This piece features a nice coverage of greenish-blue Smithsonite spherical aggregates which are associated with a few golden Baryte crystals on the reverse side. There is also some minor associated Malachite and Calcite on the piece as well. I know its not what you typically expect from a Colorado specimen, and this material is rare from this mine. This specimen is close to 30 years old as it was collected in 1980 and came from the collection of noted Colorado collector and dealer, Richard A. Kosnar. From the K-22-6 Area of the mine.
