Anunusually elongated, very large, dark purple crystal from the Gobobos. If this crystal was gemmier, it would be a $10,000 specimen. It is still a wonderful example, quite translucent and colorful when backlit, if not transparent. The size is remarkable, for the condition (pristine, save for some ingrown matrix attachments on the backside). Major amethyst from here, without breaking the bank.

Goboboseb amethyst is the collector’s “Brandberg” amethyst in its most important market sense: glassy quartz from the basalt country west of the Brandberg massif, showing purple amethyst, smoky quartz, rock crystal, phantoms, hematite veils, and mobile fluid inclusions in combinations that are unusually expressive for quartz.
