A striking, gemmy and lustrous, polychrome tourmaline from recent finds at the pegmatites at Pech, Afghanistan. This complete-all-around fat crystal has a glassy, jet-black schorl base. A beautiful, narrow, gemmy, indicolite-blue zone above the schorl is followed by the thick, gemmy and exquisite, lavender zone. The very dark purple to black, modified pinacoidal termination is frosted. There is also a bit of bladed cleavelandite at the base on the backside as a further accent. Weighs 157 grams.
