Vivid, rich blue Euclases of this highly saturated intense blue hue came from small workings at this Topaz mine in intermittent spurts from the 1960s onwards and represent some of the deepest blue crystals of the species from anywhere. This fine, hearty miniature has an unusually sharp termination and a very intense blue color, with the outer portion of one side being gemmy. This incredibly handsome crystal is an inch and a half tall and a half-inch thick. It has a perfect chisel-point termination and the broad prism faces on the front and back are striated and glisten with any incident light. Only the base shows very minor contacting along a thin edge and is otherwise pristine! This is rare and older specimen from the Vasco Trancoso collection and its aesthetics are excellent. Interestingly, we sold it to Vasco around 2005, and it retained my old label when it came back, and an old small display base we made for it. These are old classics, always desirable, but few have such sharp terminations and shape.
