An excellent and showy pink rhodochrosite with very LARGE RHOMBS to 2.9 cm and sprinkled with chalcopyrite from Butte, Montana. Rhodo rhombs do not get much larger than this from Butte and these are good ones, despite minor bruising on one crystal. This is the first piece we have offered at auction from the Ed Ruggiero Collection. Ed, formerly from Dallas, collected from the 1960s until 1987. His collection represents a wonderful time-slice of minerals available during that period. His card says the piece came from the Leonard Mine, but almost certainly, this piece is from the Emma Mine. The Leonard Mine was not in the rhodochrosite zone of the deposit. 6.8 x 4.8 x 3.3 cm
