Purpurite is the very rare phosphate of manganese, with specimens usually coming from the manganese-rich area of Southwest Africa. It is prized for both its rarity and its intense purple color. There is iridescent purpurite on both sides of this rich specimen! It came out of the Carlton Davis collection.
