An unusual Tsumeb azurite specimen, the style of which I have not seen before. It is an old piece probably from the first oxidation zone, which Evan Jones acquired many years ago. Most people who see this guess at first that it is from Bisbee, though the color is a bit off and there is some tsumeby malachite on the backside. The fan-shaped spray which dominates the specimen consists of two radiating 3.5 cm sprays of azurite, both pristine, with conjoined terminations. Those terminations are fairly thick, at around 2 cm, and extend back to the framing matrix of smaller crystals which rise above the two major crystals (see lower photo, looking down on the specimen from above). Azurite is notoriously hard to photograph, and so believe me that this has A RICHER COLOR AND MORE LUSTROUS appearance in person! 6.5 x 5 x 3 cm
