Quartz from Cave-in-Rock is quite rare, and to find it so well crystallized is exceptional. The Lillie collection contained a number of these rare specimens, but this one also tells an additional story. The Quartz is lustrous, gemmy to translucent, and sharp, with the largest crystal being 2.6 cm across. It is quite good on its own. Additionally, you can see on the reverse side the Fluorite and oxidized Galena that served as the core for the Quartz growth (as noted by Lillie on his label, an important reference specimen in this regard). This was mined in the 1940's and for the district, this is quite distinctive. RCL 1059
