This is a rich, superb old Tri-State specimen. The chert matrix is thickly covered with crystallized sphalerite, actually a deep amber to wine color. On top of the sphalerite are sprinkled hundreds of brassy little triangular crystals of chalcopyrite in an epitaxial (attached) overgrowth. Ex. George Feist Collection.
