Perched aesthetically on St. Genevieve limestone are a few glassy and gemmy, amber colored calcite crystals, to 5.5 cm across. At least two of the crystals are doubly terminated. Mined in April 1985 from the main ore body. A nice piece for showing how these things form in the ground, amidst separated shards of matrix in pockets such as this. The calcites are unusually fat and translucent, well-isolated and dramatic. RCL 0779.
