Partially etched out of enclosing calcite are crystals including spinel twins of silver, up to 1.0 cm in length. The darker patina is caused by acanthite crystal overgrowths on the silver. The color contrast between the silver, acanthite and calcite is dramatic. In general, silver from Spanish localities is rarely seen in the mineral market.
