Oligoclase Feldspar Var. "Moonstone"
A true "moonstone!" These are very rare, and only a few deposits in the world produce feldspar with this shimmering, iridescent effect to them. Displaying a pearlescent blue "moonstone flash," this is a fine cluster of lustrous and translucent tan colored crystals to 3 cm across. The largest crystal is also doubly terminated, as a bonus. Long ago this was in the collection of our own gallery manager here, collector Kevin Brown; and then it was in the well known collection of Mexican minerals collector Dave Stoudt for over a decade. I have not seen but a few of these turn up for sale in the last 15 years, since some came out with Dan Belsher (now deceased), an importer in Colorado. This is a fine, display quality example.
