A sumptuous and saturated multicolored Elbaite Tourmaline crystal from the Cruzeiro Mine in Brazil! The body of this single crystal is essentially gem, medium inky blue and transparent Indicolite for much of its 4.4cm length that transitions to pale pink near the termination and then has an abrupt 2mm thick intense, almost neon magenta cap at the termination. Upon close inspection a faint, thin jacket of gemmy pink encases the entire crystal. There is a prominent bright pink area at the base that has a thin ledge on which several, tiny, variably terminated, Elbaite crystals are situated. The piece weighs 11 grams. Old material from the 1980s.
