A matrix of limestone metasomatized to massive garnet is host to a single glassy and gemmy, rich, cognac-colored crystal of topazolite. The crystal, lying flat on the matrix, is doubly terminated, 1.5 cm across, and is a rare, perfect, isolated gem crystal! It has a few very small zones of slightly inward-hoppered growth, which is unusual and interesting. It has superb luster, and transparency. You can look right through it to the matrix beneath! This is actually a miniature (large) when set up diagonally.
