When would you ever expect to see a sparkling, gorgeous, Alpine style Hematite Rose from the USA… and from Utah of all places?! Tis unique specimen is aesthetic and sparkling, twinkling in any light that hits it and thus very difficult to photograph - link to a video at the end here. It features large crystals to 1.5 cm perched and flowering from a base of smaller crystals, all floater and with no damage of note. The serrations you see on the edges are exactly that - natural complex growth features and crystal edges, not damages. It is more complicated, the closer you look at it. I was simply unaware that a Utah hematite got this good, until I held this piece. It is so beautiful! Label from field collector Mike Sprunger, who collected it in May of 1981 and notes as much, accompanies the specimen. A unique, competition level USA miniature!
