Emplaced on a sparkling drusy mound of bladed hematite crystals are these amazingly textbook-sharp, glassy and gemmy, smoky quartzes to 3.1 cm in length. Two of the lesser quartz crystals are contacted at their outer edges, off to the side. The front view is of unusual 3-dimensionality and perfection for these old classics. They are notable for their stark, lovely contrast in form and color! These old classics are seldom seen in such quality today. Some date from the 1800s and some were found in the modern era of mining here (1960s-1970s), but in either case, aesthetic examples of this combination are hard to come by. Ex.
