Fluorite is of course one of the most common collectible minerals, and there are thousands of them online and even more offline for sale. However, every now and then, we see a find and a style that just amazes even the most jaded of us. This is a stunning specimen from a small quarry in Spain that produces very very few collectible specimens, and fewer still of this quality on a matrix. There are many loose singles from these pockets when found, occasionally. However, this piece has the best gemminess combined with stunning sharp shape, and an elegant and rare perch on sparkling quartz, as if it was literally put down in a pile of sparkling sugar sitting on a table. The fluorite looks like it is slowly sinking in, as if in motion. It is such an elegant and photogenic specimen, of any size, that we believe it merited inclusions in a website update of fine thumbnails and miniatures. And, there are few fluorite thumbnails I would say that stand out in a crowd as much as this!
