This specimen features a botryoidal layer of bumpy, salmon colored rhodochrosite, with a large euhedral crystal that appears to be a quartz crystal in the process of being either thickly covered otr perhaps pseudomorphed to rhodochrosite. The contact, where the specimen was removed from the pocket, is on the right end of the specimen as the photo is arranged, but as you can see from the photo, you can display the piece so this broken-off end does not show. This is thus a very aesthetic, and important, example of the classic Japanese rhodo. 8.7 x 4.9 x 3.6cm
