Tsavorite is the very rare, green, chromium or vanadian variety of grossular garnet, found in few places worldwide, all in Africa. This sharp, lustrous, emerald-green crystal has superb flashes of green fire and sits on a bit of matrix. This is an excellent, if admittedly small thumbnail. However, the color intensity adds somewhat to the visual impact and the unusual sharpness and gemminess of the crystal transcend the size limitation. Weighs 7.75 carats.
