The Hansonburg District has produced many attractive and intriguing Fluorites over the years, among them those with the tetrahexahedral (24 triangular faces) habit. This one, from the Mex-Tex Mine, is 1.8 cm across and has the classic purple dusting that you often see from this area. The faces are finely textured, and the crystals are actually quite gemmy. Notice the pillow-shaped Fluorite just below it. A very good textbook specimen of two classic Hansonburg habits, and the one textbook crystallization that you so rarely see. Aesthetic and display-worthy, as well, this is actually an important little specimen (or large thumbnail, depending on how you look at it) .
