A very RARE GENUINE, UNCHALLENGEABLE, KING MINE tourmaline. This lesser-known mine is on the other side of the hill from the more famous Queen, and produced historically much fewer specimens. This would be an old piece, and as far as they go is highly aesthetic beacuse of the associated matrix and the complete termination. The upper 1 cm is fairly gemmy and translucent, with zoning from blue to a vivid purple at the very tip. Self-collected by Roland Reed, a respected and well known miner in San Diego and owner of the Elizabeth R Mine. 80% of "KING mine" tourmalines are misrepresented and are acutally from the Queen. BUT, this one was discovered by the miner and was in his personal collection. Irv bought it directly from Roland.
