Some of the most gorgeous, sparkling Baryte crystals we have yet seen from the mine make this an unusual specimen. Lovely set of overlapping, sky blue Fluorite crystals nestled in a sparkling white matrix of shiny Barytes, from 1994 mining at the Minerva #1 mine in southern Illinois. The gemmy Fluorites share a yellow core, and there are slight, purple phantoms within. The largest is 1.8 cm on edge. The Fluorites have a satin luster, and some of the edges show a distinct and interesting stepped growth on close inspection. There are globular strontianite inclusions, as well as the lustrous, 1 cm Baryte blades that cover the matrix and some sides of the Fluorite cubes. This is very unusual combination piece for the mine, fascinating in person. RCL 326
