An epimorph specimen of Hubnerite on Scheelite from the famed Mundo Nuevo Mine of Peru. The bladed, mm-size, blood-red Hubnerite crystals have encrusted (epimorphed) on octahedral Scheelite crystals that are found on both ends of the specimen. The Scheelites range up to 8 mm in size. The whole plate is composed of 2 mm Muscovite rosettes and gemmy Quartz crystals. It is quite intriguing that the Quartz crystals take two forms: elongated prisms up to 1.9 cm and a fascinating, complex bipyramidal, 7 mm wide crystal that looks like a little lost Herkimer. This is an outstanding combination piece with no lack of mineralogical interest and aesthetics.
