A stunning, aesthetic, IMPORTANT specimen of this desirable copper species from the most important locality for historic chalcocites and Euopean classics. The finest chalcocites in the world are said to have come from the mines of Cornwall, generally prior to 1850. Most of what survives outside the great museums are small pieces with small crystals. This monster, from that heyday of English industrial expansion, is a rare survivor. This massive specimen has large crystals in a robust cluster, and is a floater complete all around. The question is, which way to display it! It is complete on the back as well, and carries a few small bits of rare, attached rock matrix on the backside.
