This is a special locality and style, from very old Chinese mineral production that is mostly forgotten about today. The Taolin Mine was one of the older lead and metal mines in Hunan when mineral specimen exports really began in earnest in the 1990s. It was said that these were collected in the 1980s, or early 1990s, and shortly after we saw no more. The crystal cluster atop measures 4 cm across and shows color, when backlit. When frontlit, it shows off a crazy brilliant metallic luster. These are old classics, notable for the contrast of the sphalerite against sparkling quartz matrix. Comes with custom lucite base. Ex Richard Rossi collection.
