Here is a very large, very fine and gemmy crystal of smoky quartz from the Austrian Alps. It is doubly-terminated - with a slight coating of green chlorite on one end, a common association. There are matrix contacts and some mineral attachments of massive colorless quartz and chlorite around the sides. The interior is strikingly transparent and glassy, something Alpine smokies are known for. Ex. Wein Collection.
