A single GEM crystal of the classic Jonas color and brightness, from this most-famous of all Brazilian tourmaline pockets in the late 1970's. A Jonas mine tourmaline stands out, amongst all the croud of Brazilian tourmalines. Its very name is synonymous with a color one hopes to see in other tourmalines but usually does not: "Jonas red" - a cranberry-colored, rich, gemmy crystal. This one is of high quality, excellent luster, and is much gemmier and more transparent in person. It is a rare treasure to find on the market and I was pleased that Jack let go of this one in the trade (though it was the smallest of his 3 so he could let it go, it is none the less fine for that). It came to Jack from legendary Brazilian dealer Carlos Barbosa many years ago.
