A classic from one of the richest Molybdenite mines in history, known for what are now seldom-seen mineral specimens. This is a large set of four foliated, hexagonal crystals of Molybdenite. The cluster is an asymmetrical rosette, with the basal crystal being a full 8 cm across. The Molybdenite, like Graphite, is almost waxy to the touch and has a superior metallic luster. This old-timer is an outstanding example of the species - by the early part of the 20th Century the mines at Kingsgate were nearly exhausted. The hexagonal form of the crystal is quite clear here, which is rather rare, especially for such a large crystal. Excellent quality and aesthetics.
