Magnet Cove rutile paramorphs after brookite are fairly well-known, usually associated with or growing on smoky-grey quartz crystals. This specimen is a fairly large, sharp, brilliantly lustrous, metallic jet black single crystal. A stunning representative example of this classic Arkansas material. From the thumbnail collection of Martin C. Jensen (b. 1959) of Reno, Nevada, USA. He is not only a mineral collector, but an SEM specialist at the Mackay School of Mines, and has contributed multiple studies on localities in the western United States. The mineral species Jensenite is named in his honor. Per Martin, this was gifted to him from Steve Behling.
