This piece has the least color of any fluorite in this update, and yet I cannot take my eyes off of it. It has a mesmerizing complexity, and is highly unusual for this district. It looks more like a Russian piece... But this is an excellent, multi-generation Fluorite from the Denton Mine. The first generation was yellow and sharp; followed by a generation that was more blue and strangely "cloudy," so that it is sharply defined as a color zone and yet not sharp on the edges, at the same time; and then it was overgrown by gemmy pastel blue Fluorite. Within, as you look closely, are numerous phantoms and color zones. Between generations of fluorite growth, a group of lustrous and large (up to 1.2 cm) Ruby Jack Sphalerites grew on the yellow Fluorite. There is a little bit of minor wear on the Sphalerite, as well as the back of the Fluorite, but the overall condition is excellent. Mined in 1990, this miniature presents very well and is shockingly unique even amongst all the bigger and fancier pieces in this important collection.
