Chinese spessartine garnets are a modern classic and the combination atop of black smoky quartz is literally an iconic find for Chinese minerals that is distinct from all others. Back in the 1990s, the majority of the production of the Wushan garnet location was controlled through one family, and group of dealers in alliance. This is from the personal collection of Xiamen dealer Chen Wei Gang, built at the time this locality was the most productive, in the late 1990s and early 2000s. This is a complete floater all around, with all quartzes terminated even on the bottom. The dark style is unmistakably older, different from the new material that comes out of a different mountain granite deposit a few kilometers away. This is like a 3D sculpture, complete all around.
