A very pretty and highly unusual bi-colored tourmaline from the Himalaya Mine and the Robert Whitmore Collection. Most of this pencil tourmaline is the classic, gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous, "Himalaya pink." A very distinct compositional change occurred at the base, as the crystal is colorless and translucent. Strange, but interesting. Old material from the 1960s or 1970s, or earlier, as the piece has a Whitmore number of 22. Weighs 3 grams.
