Germany is known for its world-class carvings, often from materials such as this - a combination of agate and porphyry (with a little crystal pocket in the middle in this case). Typically you do not see the material come to the market as mineral specimens, but as carvings - but in this case, a pretty specimen was preserved for a collector!
