Tourmaline
This is an unusually gemmy, transparent crystal for the Stewart Mine. It is marked JS-TU-43 on the backside, indicating that it came from the collection of my erstwhile neighbor in San Diego, Dr. John Sinkankas. It is very likely that, as with many of his San Diego pieces, John collected it himself. Note that this is NOT from the Himalaya Mine: it is distinguishable from more common Himalaya Mine tourmalines by the color pattern and the classical Stewart blue line atop the termination here. I had many other Stewarts from him, although none of such gemminess and thickness/transparency. This comes from the noted collection of Dr. Dick Webster, one of the founders of plastic surgery and a major mineral collector several decades ago. This collection just surfaced through his children, to the market, with a friend of mine.
