The famous garnet mine in Fujian Province of China, is of course famous for the garnets it produces more than anything else. However, very rarely, it yielded up a fluorite as well! This style of purple octahedron is the famous style, of which only a few were found in the 1990s and early 2000s. The crystal has edges to 3 cm, although measured at longest dimension is just over 3.5 cm tip to tip. It is a very choice, rare, colorful Chinese miniature specimen for any collector of China, fluorite, or miniatures in general. The contrast of shape, color to the feldspar, and the 3-dimensionality make it very dramatic.
