Fluorite on Quartz

A riveting specimen with a juicy, egg-yolk colored and shaped fluorite ball perched on an accenting plate of translucent quartz. Actually, the whole specimen is translucent and glows when backlit! We have seen hundreds of these specimens over the last 20 years. Few attain this level of perfection in combination of balance, symmetry, color, and lack of damage. This is a 1 in 1000 specimen of the material, far beyond the common level. It is gorgeous when backlit and glows from within even with a nominal amount of lighting. It is entirely natural, not carved or polished. These "balls" are an example of botryoidal fluorite, which forms without crystal structure. However, some specimens can and have been tampered with, or helped to look more smooth. This is natural, purchased by photo directly as it was mined, and sent to our own lab for prep. It is 360 degrees, complete all around. The quartz matrix extends under the fluorite and seems to be itself a floater, a hollow cast that formed atop of something else.
