Kaokoveld is near Tsumeb, but the mining of dioptases has never been pursued with the same vigor as Tsumeb and therefore the specimens are much more uncommon. In some cases, they have every bit of the color and luster of a good Tsumeb piece, as with this specimen. This is a cluster of elongated crystals (one of them is 1.5 cm!), all terminated. The color is tops in person, though pics of dioptases never look quite right. Top luster, too. 3.2 x 1.7 x 1.4 cm
