A stunning thumber of spessartine garnet, with a deep wine-red, 1.4-cm crystal perched atop stark white contrasting euhedral cleavelandite, surrounded by a few little "accessory" spessartines. A superb competition-level thumbnail from the noted collection of Al Young, who has won the Desautels and Lidstrom prizes for other thumbnails from his collection.
