Rhombohedrons of lustrous and translucent, rich strawberry-red, rhodochrosite, to 1.1 cm across, are closely associated with a matrix comprised of colorless, gemmy quartz crystals to 9 mm in length. There are also a few bright, metallic crystals of pyrite present. A typical, representative specimen of this combination from the late 1990s, and a large piece for the price these days.
