Shattuckite is a hydrated copper silicate that is not all that well-known, despite its great beauty - because there are just not that many specimens around. This superb specimen is from the Kaokoveld locality, which has also produced a trickle of good dioptase specimens. You can see some crystals of azurite pseudomorphing to malachite on this specimen as well. The intense, blue crystals of shattuckite are sitting beneath a layer of sparkly quartz crystals, with some shattuckite exposed in places.
