A stunning, glassy, brightly colored specimen of classic Santa Rosa coloration. I believe Steve told me this was found in the mid-1980s. It is incredibly colorful, and vibrant in an almost electric fashion that is hard to convey in pics. Suffice to say that it is better in person. I recently exchanged this from the Steve Smale collection. He is noted for being, among other things, rather a hoarder of tourmalines! He used to go to Brazil and buy entire pockets, and simply trade or sell the excess and keep the top 10-12 for himself. Recently, he has let a few go to me, and we've progressed up the food chain to beauties like this. 6.3 x 2.7 x 2.6 cm
