This starkly multicolored, elongated tourmaline is exceptionally transparent for the Himalaya Mine, for a crystal of such size. It has 5 major color zones, a few more than the norm, and the middle maroon-red zone is particularly robust. The crystal is doubly-terminated and complete all around: One termination is flattish, the other sharply prismatic, as normal for the mine. It is, overall, an exceptional crystal. 59 grams. From the collection of Hubert De Monmonier (1919-2007), donated by bequest to the University of Arizona Museum to add to their displays and to provide specimens for sale to establish an endowment fund for museum operations, in perpetuity.
