Fluorite on Arsenopyrite

Elegant and dramatic, this superb combination piece is from the Huanggang Mine in Inner Mongolia. It is from older finds, circa 2012, as I had it exhibited in our company's China Crystalline Treasures exhibition in the Tucson Museum in 2013. The matrix is dominated by bright, mirror-like crystals of Arsenopyrite, and atop the piece sits a heavily modified Arsenopyrite octahedron, at first glance! But no, that is not possible...it is actually a sugary sprinkle of lustrous small arsenopyrite atop a fluorite octahedron! All that is nice in and of itself, but DRAPING that "Arsenopyrite octahedron" is a sharp and gemmy, 4.7 cm (tip to tip), pink Fluorite octahedron. It looks as if the pink fluorite octo is enveloping a metallic octohedra within...a totally unique look! The satiny luster is quite good, and the architecture and aesthetics of this cabinet specimen are simply remarkable, as the photos show. A unique specimen, in my own China collection since 2012.
