Quartz var. Amethyst

Many of us consider amethysts from this small, difficult quarry in rural northern Georgia to be among the best in the world, for sheer beauty. This is an unusual, bicolored, glassy and gemmy, doubly terminated amethyst crystal from the mine. The top half of the crystal is a splendid, rich purple with GEM-like transparency while the bottom half exhibits more of a milky color after a gradient. The contrast within the same crystal is absolutely beautiful! A fine single crystal from this mine, from older finds, it is complete on 3 sides and has some contact and a small bit of damage to the body (not the termination) of the back face only. This was self-collected by dealer Ken Roberts and seems to be from the great old zone associated with clear, gem quartzes (early 2000's), as there is a tiny white quartz at bottom.
