This is an old specimen of wavellite from the premiere worldwide locality for the species - not one of the more recent pieces from Mauldin Mountain with balls of wavellite on the surface of the matrix, but rather huge balls - up to 4 cm across - embedded in hard rock matrix. You can see the radial form of the crystals, which grow out from the center 360 degrees to form the balls.
