A single, sharp, highly modified Cuprite from the famous locality of Chessy. Chessy is one of the world's finest localities for Cuprite, and this is a good example of the species showing alteration to Malachite, for which the locality has been famous since the 1800s. The crystal is unusually elongated and large for the locale! And, also large for a dodecahdron of the species anyhow. This Cuprite, and all the well known octahedrons, were found at this locality in the 1800s and are now considered classics. The surface shows a thin alteration layer of Malachite, making it a partial pseudomorph .
