Although not large by common fluorite standards, this specimen has a lot going for it. On a matrix of drusy quartz are fluorite cubes, to 1.6 cm across. They are transparent, and a light golden color. However, what really makes this piece special are the exquisite bands of purple zoning, one around the perimeter and one at the center of the crystals. One edge of the large crystal has minor damage but that is off to one side. It is a beautiful specimen said to be from a "small find" a few months ago. I am still trying to track down the mine location, but for now there really DOES appear to have just been a few and they are keeping it quiet while trying to find more. This was the best of the lot I saw.
