Emplaced on massive magnetite ore and a crust of white massive calcite, are lustrous, jet black cubes of magnetite to 1.5 cm across. The magnetite crystals contrast superbly with the white calcite. This is a major matrix specimen from the classic finds here of the 1990's at this locality. This extremely fine, display quality cabinet specimen was once in the collection of the Academy of Mineralogy, New York State Museum Institute. It was obtained in exchange, for a major antique NY specimen I had last year. Such specimens are few and far between.
